Prebiotics – Prebiotics are non-digestible substances in foods that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in your digestive system. These beneficial bacteria, called probiotics, help your digestive system to process essential nutrients and function efficiently. Prebiotics can be found in some types of carbohydrates that contain soluble fiber. For example: inulin, whole oats, unrefined wheat and unrefined barley.
Some of GenoVive’s foods that include inulin include: Frappes, pasta, and several snack bars such as the Peanut Butter Cookie Bar, Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar, Double Chocolate Brownie Bar, Cherry Cashew Bar, Cocoa Coconut Bar and Cranberry Apple Nut Bar. Inulin, although it is a carbohydrate, contains less food energy than other carbohydrates, therefore it does not have the same impact on blood sugar as other types of carbohydrates. Inulin can also help your body absorb calcium and magnesium.

GenoVive has selected carbohydrate ingredients that have a low Glycemic Index. This means that the carbohydrates break down more slowly, and gradually release sugar into the bloodstream, giving your body a gradual energy source over time, rather than a quick energy burst that you might get from eating refined sugars. Low glycemic index carbohydrates help avoid spikes in blood sugar. Whole grains are a good source of low glycemic carbohydrates.
You’ll find a variety of whole grains in GenoVive’s breakfasts such as: Hot Whole Grain Cereal with Blueberries and Cranberry Apple Nola bars. Whole grains are also included in lunch and dinner entrees such as Beef with Spanish Flavored Grains, Chicken with Herb Grains and Brown Rice and Beef & Barley Stew.
The Natural Meats in GenoVive’s entrees have been carefully selected to be hormone and antibiotic free and trimmed to be lower in fat. We made this choice to give you a quality source of protein without any "disruptive" effects that could be caused by hormones, antibiotics and other artificial ingredients found in some commercially mass produced meats.
The fats used in GenoVive’s foods were chosen because they are the types of fats that can also provide health benefits. Olive Oil is a monounsaturated fat that is rich in helpful antioxidants. Olive oil can help protect against higher levels of bad LDL cholesterol and help raise levels of good HDL cholesterol.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids are polyunsaturated fats that may help reduce inflammation in the body and may help with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Omega 3 fatty acids are not produced by the body, so they must be consumed in the foods we eat. Good sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are flax seed and fish oils.
Some of GenoVive’s foods that include Omega 3s include: Cherry Cashew Snack Bar, Cranberry Apple Nut Snack Bar, Cocoa Coconut Snack Bar and Honey Dijon Tuna Salad
Your GenoVive Customized Meal Program also includes an Omega 3 supplement that is handled at "harvest" from squid to avoid any rancidity. The lighter the Omega 3 supplement, the less rancidity, and then the better the activity. We added the supplement because many people won't eat fish and it ensures a good high quality source of Omega 3 fatty acids.
